My team was nominated as the official Fantasy Football First team. My job is to tell you how and why I have picked certain players and formations for the Fantasy Premier League, and explain my reasoning behind any changes along the way. This article explains the changes I have made to my team and why.
How did I do in game week 27?
For game week (GW) 27 I tweaked my transfer plan for navigating the blank game weeks of GW26 and GW28. If you are unsure what the impact of the FA Cup is on our FPL Team, read this helpful guide. My plan was:
- GW27: Alli to Sterling
- GW28: Costa to Lukaku and Sterling to Sigurdsson
I triple-captained Sterling because he had two fixtures, which did not work work out because Sterling did not play in the second fixture. I scored 86 points and my rank rose 63K to 82K.
Game week 28
As expected, work is needed for this game week in order to maintain my rank because I currently only have 5 players playing. In truth, I have four because of the Phillips injury. However, it could be worse!

Following my transfer plan of Costa to Lukaku and Sterling to Sigurdsson I have the following team, which still feels weak.
I don’t feel too comfortable with Stoke’s upcoming fixtures of Chelsea (H), Leicester (A), Burnley (A) and Liverpool (H), so I decide to bring in an Everton Defender for Pieters for a four point hit, which given I am thinking about this transfer over 4 weeks, can really be thought of as a 1 point per week hit, so should work out over the term. From Everton’s defence I picked Coleman quite simply because I can afford him.
I also spot that after the Everton game, Phillips has Arsenal (H), Man Utd (A), Watford (A), So’ton (H), Liverpool (H) and Man City (A). Tough games. Therefore, I decide to take a second hit and sell Phillips for Antonio. I picked West Ham because Bournemouth are without Mings, and I picked Lanzini over Antonio because Lanz is in form, although a fresh Antonio is tempting.
To confirm, this week I have sold Phillips, Pieters, Costa and Sterling and bought Lukaku, Sigy, Lanzini and Coleman for an 8 point hit.
Best of luck this weekend. Post your team below, tell me your GW28 plans, and I’ll take a look.
