During this past week, there were 5 EPL teams involved midweek in the Champions League. Just a reminder to check the injury websites for players who suffered a knock, or who may be rested depending on their playing time. Continue reading
The International break has sorted the 9 Group winners headed to Russia. Next up are the 8 teams who placed second and are headed for home and away playoff matches. The draw will be held later today, and the play-off matches played over the period of the 9th to the 14th November. The pairings had not been decided as of the writing of the article.
Hopefully, your fantasy squads have made it through unscathed without major injuries. Those who have opted to use their WC during the break may have been disappointed about the lack of price rises. I count myself in this group. Continue reading
The last weekend was one in which the website prognosticators earned their pay. There were some excellent forecasts by those at the top of the leaderboard, and overall the returns for correct outcomes were at 40% and above. The RMT algorithm seems to be experiencing a roller coaster ride; down one week and up the next. I have faith that the algorithm will work out the kinks and perform up to its’ abilities. I hope everyone enjoyed a weekend accumulating plenty of points and the enjoyment of green arrows. Many complaints appeared on sites regarding low scores recorded by various league leaders. It seems that choosing the right players for fantasy teams is not as easy as these managers make it out to be. This past weekend it appears that a score above the weekly average was a success. Continue reading
I was unsure if I would be able to publish this weeks’ article due to the hurricane threat hitting Florida at the time. We were lucky that although the eye wall passed over our community the fact that it was a Category 1 storm was a relief. A lot of high winds (79-90 mph) and 10 inches of rain but the house survived without power loss. But on to more pressing matters. Continue reading
I hope all were able to take a short break away from the grind of the weekly decisions about who to transfer in and out, but I imagine that a good portion of all managers decided to activate their wildcards over the International break. This option popped into mind but I have resisted due to the uncertainty over what input any new players will have on starting XI’s. In the end, I felt that it may be wise to save the WC until the next International break to see what shakes out. It appears that may have been the wise option as the only price movement over the past week was downward. Continue reading
The Premier League Table is full of surprises after GW2. There are 3 teams at the top who have recorded clean sheets in each of their matches, while 6 teams are vying to secure their places in the relegation zone. Of the 6 teams in this scramble, 5 have yet to dent the opponents’ net. Newly promoted Huddersfield in second place is making a claim on remaining in the top league by being undefeated and unscored upon. The other two promoted teams are included in the group battling it out escape relegation.
Manchester United continued their assault upon opponents goal by scoring 4 goals in each match while not conceding. So far this has been a complete turnaround from last season, good defense while lighting up the scoreboard. Continue reading
The first weekend’s matches brought surprises: Burnley’s win over Chelsea and promoted side Huddersfield’s clean sheet at Crystal Palace. Any managers who are playing the Prediction Game and chose those two matches correctly could be off to great starts. Continue reading
Welcome back to all those looking forward to another season of fantasy joy and heartbreak. I look forward to once again providing a statistical analysis of the scorelines predicted by various websites, either from experts or computer generated algorithms. Hopefully, I will be able to publish the weekly articles without interruption this year. Continue reading
The following information presents an overview of the results of the various prediction sites’ that I monitored this last season. The numbers aren’t a complete representation of what had occurred since I was absent over about a month recovering from open heart surgery. Although I wasn’t around to present weekly summary articles from February to the end of the season in May, I was still able to monitor most sites for a period following my rehab. Continue reading
This week predictions article will be short and hopefully sweet. There are only 8 sites that have posted predictions as of this writing. It may not be enough to sway your decisions but I won’t be available later this week to massage the data that will be forthcoming. Continue reading
As you will see when you scan the Top Sites Table later in the article, the site predictors, pundits and seers took an old-fashioned butt whipping this past game week. Two sites posted average results and the remainder were just pitiful. I can only hope that everyone used a little gut instinct when making their predictions last week. This has to be the worst record over the time span of these articles. Continue reading
