Thankfully the short turn around this week is eased by the shortened match schedule. There are only 6 matches on the docket this weekend, and you may expect a ton of rotation when lineups are announced.
The first DGW is in the books and I’m not sure that everyone was satisfied with the results. Many first team members were rested in the second matches and that led to lower point accumulations. Continue reading
As you are all aware, one successful week of high points in the Prediction Game doesn’t mean a thing. The prediction gods gave me a good kick in the butt with 9 points this past week. That is the situation we find ourselves week after week, but I am preaching to the choir. The trials and tribulations involved in score predictions have their ups and downs. Continue reading
With the FPL season winding down and my teams’ current standing at the 1.7 million level, it’s time to move on and begin planning for next year. I’m 75 points shy of breaking the 1 million mark and at my current pace there really isn’t much to look forward to. Continue reading
As we enter the final 7 GWs of the current season the bulk of the chatter on site appears to involve the structuring of squads in preparation for the run to the finish. Managers who have retained their WC, FH Chip, BB and TC chips may an advantage over these coming weeks. Good luck to all as you painstakingly make these decisions.
The other talk on the site is related to the new setup for FMLS, which is causing quite a stir. The price rise calculations appear to be the main topic of conversation. The prices continue to rise in many cases making the selection of players a problem. Hopefully, the IT people have a plan and make it known to all soon. Many players have made known their displeasure with the current game direction. If MLS was hoping the attract followers with this new game they were mistaken as many “casual” user are being turned off on MLS. Continue reading
As the FPL season winds down we are treated to the first BGW, involving only 8 teams. The utmost thought of all managers must be acquiring enough players to field a viable lineup, without using the WC or the Free Hit Chip. These will be needed prior to the first DGW and the second BGW if they are still in your possession. Continue reading
This week is the prelude to GW 31, the first major BGW of the 2017/18 season. Only 8 teams are in action in GW31. Hopefully, all have been preparing for this event by using FT’s, Hits and the FT Chip or WC in order to flesh out your squads. With 2 possible DGW’s on the horizon, it would be wise to save the FH Chip and WC to take advantage of these point opportunities. Whatever your situation good luck in whichever direction you may decide upon. Continue reading
The replays from the 5th Round of the FA Cup have been completed and Swansea City and Tottenham have moved into the 6th Round. The 4 Quarter Final matches will be played the weekend of March 17/18. This should result in a BGW involving 8 teams, 7 from the EPL. If this the case, there will only be 4 matches in GW 31.
As of this writing, the final match from GW 28 between Arsenal and Manchester City has yet to be played. Continue reading
Although it was a week without EPL action, the FA Cup, Champions League, and Europa League competitions filled the void. Three different competitions were available to satisfy our football needs.
Two matches in the FA Cup resulted in surprise results. First Tottenham was tied by Rochdale and then the big shocker came when Manchester City was beaten by Wigan. The first piece of hardware falls by the wayside.
I was of the opinion that since the Spurs would be involved in a replay, and the chance that a win would put them into the 6th Round of FA Cup play, that their GW 31 match would be a blank. That is not what the FPL site schedule shows, so someone knows more than I do I suppose. Continue reading
First and foremost, as a native Philadelphian, I would like to offer my congrats to the NFL Superbowl LII champion Philadelphia Eagles. Fly Eagles fly! It’s been 58 years (1960) since the last time the Eagles held this honor, I was 21 years old. The game was played at Franklin Field, the home of the Pennsylvania University football team before the Eagles found a permanent home and prior to the Superbowl era. This was the team of van Brocklin, McDonald, Retzlaff, and Brookshier; all my heroes. Continue reading
With only 2 days between games weeks, you get the feeling that MLS has opened early. EPL scheduling can get hectic but not as crazy as MLS.
Last game week turned into a disaster points-wise as none of the heavy hitters came through on my behalf. Oh well, there’s always next week as I sink slowly down in the overall standings. Continue reading
Another break from the grind of Fantasy Footy, but no rest for the players involved in the 4th Round of the FA Cup competition. Manchester United, Leicester City, Southampton, Brighton & Hove, West Bromwich, Chelsea, Manchester City are on to the 5th Round. Our sympathy goes out to Huddersfield Town, Tottenham and Swansea City who must suffer through replays on February 6 0r 7, shoe-horned between GW 26 & 27.
As always, be alert to the possibility of injuries and rotations during this hectic scheduling period. Continue reading
Ah, the luxury of not having one game week piled on top of another! My mind is at ease so I hope to complete this without any errors.
First up are the FA Cup replays midweek involving West Ham, Leicester, Chelsea, Bournemouth and Swansea City. These matches will determine which teams advance to the 4th Round. West Ham United, Leicester City, Chelsea and Swansea City move into the 4th Round (26, 27, & 28 February 2018). Bournemouth is eliminated. Continue reading
