Only three weeks back Ilkay Gundogan was “the man” in the Manchester City’s midfield. Ignore Kevin de Bruyne. Move over David Silva. There is a new cat in town and he’s just scored two goals against the Baggies. Yes, Gundogan was Capoue rebooted.
Yet we now find that Gundogan was not even in the squad for the Palace and Burnley game. However, if at the time you’d have looked at Gundogan’s underlying stats. and, in particular, compared them to his Manchester City team mates, then you’d have seen a big red warning flag in the shape of “if it looks too good to be true, its probably too good to be true”. What can we learn from this? Continue reading
Sergio Aguero is the hottest prospect in the Premier League. In the last five seasons, he’s broken twenty goals three times, and when he hasn’t it’s because he’s been injured. As far as FPL, he has broken the two hundred point barrier on more than one occasion, was in the dream team last season and is selected by over 43% of teams. He is a must buy. Continue reading

Last week we looked at the options for dealing with popular Southampton players ahead of their upcoming tricky fixture run. In general we were quite positive and concluded that as Southampton have been so good it was probably O.K. to hold on to one defender and one attacking player. However, now that the first of the tricky fixtures, Man City, is actually here join us as we put on a really thick pair of socks to help cover up our cold feet and ask “Are Southampton players really worth hanging on to?” Continue reading

Do you like to do your transfers early? Players that perform exceptionally well can see their prices rise before the weekend even ends. Player transfers and price changes mirror that of the stock market, and similar to a booming or blue chip stock, no manager wants to miss out on bringing in an in-form player before an imminent price rise. It will be my job for the duration of the FPL season to nominate three candidates each week that you should consider bringing into your team. Continue reading
