FPL returns this weekend after a short break for the 3rd round of the FA Cup and that means captain article time. Our first tip this week has to be Alexis Sanchez. Swansea have been nothing short of atrocious this season- in fact they have been so poor that they are already on their 3rd coach and are firmly in the relegation zone in the league. They have been shipping goals for fun all season long and new coach Paul Clement has a massive job on his hands to try and save them.
Sanchez is both mine and the RMT RMT Adviser’s top pick for captaincy this week with the RMT Adviser’s algorithm producing the following projections; 6.27 points with 1 goal in 33% of games, 2 in 8.8% and 3 in 0.4%. Arsenal haven’t been playing that well lately and had to grind out a draw at Bournemouth having been 3-0 down but that hasn’t stopped Sanchez from producing a steady if not spectacular run of points but he is always capable of a monster haul and Swansea could well be one of those
The Manchester United front man keeps delivering the goods in fantasy football with a goal and 2 bonus points last time out. Zlatan is the RMT Adviser’s number 2 pick with a points projection of 5.19 points. United have a blockbuster fixture this weekend with a home game against mega rivals Liverpool. On paper this isn’t a fixture that automatically screams big points and the reverse fixture at Anfield this season was a pretty dull 0-0 but I fancy their to be goals in this one this weekend. Zlatan has 5 goals and 4 assists in his last 5 fpl games and the RMT Adviser’s algorithm has high hopes he will continue this form this weekend.
Zlatan has the following goal projections for this weekend 1 goal in 29.4%,2 goals 9.6% and 3 goals in 1.2% of all simulated games.
If United are to win this game and keep themselves in the hunt for a top 4 place and perhaps even a late title charge then this is a game they will need to win and Zlatan will be a big part of that. If you are a believer in form over fixtures then Zlatan as captain makes a lot of sense.
A man in red hot form! 6 goals in his last 3 games for spurs have seen Alli become hot fpl property once again. His price and ownership have been rising rapidly over the last few weeks and he is now priced at £8.6m when he could have been picked up for £8.1m just a couple of weeks back.
This weekend sees Spurs play at home to WBA and given how well spurs have been playing lately it is reasonable to expect a Spurs win so Alli will have a good opportunity to try and maintain his recent good form which has seen him return double digit scores in each of the last 3 game weeks. If I were to sound a word of caution it would be that Alli’s last 7 goals have come from 8 shots on target so perhaps his goal scoring form is unsustainable. However no player is in better fpl form that the Spurs man so strike while the iron is white hot!
The following section was written before the news of Costa’s falling out was reported.
Chelsea were bought back down to earth a little in the last game week as Spurs halted their winning run with a fantastic 2-0 win. This weekend offers Chelsea the chance to start another run with an away game against reigning Champions Leicester City, who have been nothing like the side that won the title last season.
Costa is still joint top fpl scoring forward along with Ibrahimovic and he is still the top goal scorer in the league. With Chelsea looking strong favourites for the title at this point an away win would seem the most likely option. Here are a few RMT Adviser’s algorithm stats to help make choosing Costa a little easier
Projected points 4.27 with goal projections as follows; 1 goal in 30%, 2 goals in 5% and 3 goals in 0.6%
Leicester have only kept 4 clean sheets all season so if you are looking for a reliable captain pick then why not go for Costa?
