Fantasy MLS GW 11 Review and GW 12 Preview

Another double game week is over. It was an exciting round with 42 goals including 6 braces and a hatrick. New York City FC seemed to wake up from their early season slumber, Dempsey proved his quality once again, LA Galaxy continue to struggle (as predicted on-site in week 1), and Pfeffer is the new kid on the block.

Gameweek 11 Review

The round started with Columbus Crew hosting Toronto FC. The host was awarded a penalty executed by Higuain. Ten minutes later the visitors had one but that was missed by Altidore. Ricketts equalised in the 81st minute. When everything was looking square he came back for another one in the last minute 1-2.

Houston Dynamo welcomed Vancouver Whitecaps. Elis opened the scoring but shortly after that left with an injury. Torres doubled the score from a PK. The consolation goal for the guest came from Shea 2-1. Toronto FC extended their winning streak while hosting Minnesota United. Giovinco got on the scoring board in the first half but Molino equalised in the second and shortly after that Ramirez scored in his own net. The drama continued when Bono saved Molino’s penalty but a lucky rebound finished with a goal. Once again Ricketts had the winning goal 3-2.

Colorado Rapids demolished San Jose Earthquakes at home with a brace from Gashi and a goal from Badji in the middle 3-0. Montreal Impact lost at home to Columbus Crew. The goals from Piatti and Jackson-Hamel were not enough to match the hatrick from Meram 2-3. D.C. United got destroyed at home by Philadelphia Union. Medunjanin opened the scoring. In the second half Acosta received a red card and the visitors took advantage with goals from Onyewu, Picault and Herbers 0-4.

Orlando City shared a point each with Sporting Kansas City. Larin and Kaka scored for the host but the guests answered with a brace from Blessing 2-2. New England Revolution totally devastated Real Salt Lake. The four goals were produced by Caldwell, Kamara, Fagundez and Nguyen 4-0. Chicago Fire had a great home game against Seattle Sounders. Nikolics opened the scoring but Dempsey equalised. In the second half the host was the dominant side and goals from Accam, Solignac and another one from Nikolics brought the victory 4-1.

Portland Timbers just managed a point at home against Atlanta United. Ridgewell and Gressel scored for each side 1-1. LA Galaxy had a great time while visiting New York Red Bulls. Alessandrini had a brace within a minute and Dos Santos scored the third . The consolation goal for the host was scored by Royer in the last seconds of the game 1-3.

The round finished with FC Dallas sharing a point with NYCFC, The goals came from Acosta and McNamara 1-1.

Gameweek 12 Preview

We are here, entering the massive DGWwith 10 teams playing twice. They are Chicago, Colorado, Houston, NYCFC, Orlando, Philadelphia, RSL, San Jose, SKC and Seattle. Philadelphia is the only team with two home games. It will be a chaos!

Once again we have a very short time for decisions as the deadline is on Wednesday.

PHI (W2 D4 L4) vs HOU (W6 D1 L3)

Philly is starting to get into the rhythm. They now have three clean sheets in a row. Maybe it’s time to think about the defence in this one. Fabinho, Onyewu and Elliott are all reasonably priced. Blake has 25 points in the last three rounds.

Houston are unbeaten at home winning six and drawing one. They still haven’t won a match on the road. This will be the first of three games away. Torres has now eight goals and Elis is on five. Alex still remains favourite with six assists.

CHI (W4 D3 L3) vs COL( W2 D1 L6)

The Fire is undefeated in the last seven home games. I can see them doing well in this one against struggling Colorado. Nikolic is with 8 goals and an assist. Accam with 4 goals and the same amount of assists. It’s time to have one of them.

The Rapids finally won after five losing games in a row. I am still not convinced with them but perhaps Badji can be trusted if you are short of cash.

SKC (W5 D4 L2) vs SEA (W2 D4 L4)

Sporting failed to win in 20 of the last 22 away games but they usually perform well at home. Dwyer will be back after suspension and could do well against out of form Seattle. Feilhaber is a gamble this season and he needs to do better.

The Sounders are in trouble lately. They have just two wins in the last ten games. Lodeiro and Dempsey are on and off and I can’t trust them.

RSL(W2 D2 L7) vs NYCFC (W5 D2 L3)

Real are in big trouble so far. They have scored one goal in last four games. The team has lost 10 in the last 12 away games. I don’t think there is a player I can pick here.

The Blues manage to scrape a point away Dallas. David Villa totally blanked but he might come back with a goal or two against shaky RSL.

SJ (W4 D3 L4) vs OLC (W6 D1 L3)

The Quakes are still in the mix losing and winning. If you are brave enough you can get Wondo or the popular Godoy and Jungwirth. I would think long before doing that.

The Lions have become pretty inconsistent as of late. They are unbeaten in the last seven home games but have just one win on the road. Larin can score at any time.

NYRB (W5 D1 L6) vs TOR (W7 D4 L1)

The Bulls were embarrassed at home by LA. That was a surprise as the team has won 16 of their last 20 home games before that. The BWP and Kljestan magic wasn’t there. This will be a second home game and one more to follow.

Toronto have 6 straight wins and that is in 22 days. Gio returned in the second game of the last round and scored. Lets hope we don’t get the mad rotation of players this time.

MTL(W2 D4 L4) vs POR (W5 D3 L3)

The Impacts roller coaster is still ongoing. They have one win at home and one away. If you are optimistic you can bet on Piatti with 4 goals so far. Hamel for the bench.

The Timbers are winless for a third consecutive game. Valeri is back from his injury but could do nothing. Adi has blanked in the last two games. Maybe they will have a chance in this one against the struggling Canadians.

D.C.U (W3 D2 L5) vs CHI

United was destroyed at home by fellow bottom Philly last week. In fact the team was shutout six times in the last 10 games. I don’t fancy any player from this team.
Chicago covered above

ATL(W3 D3 L4) vs HOU

Atlanta are doing as a new franchise is expected to do. They have only one win at home so far. Villalba and Almiron have been quiet for a long time. Gressel scored his first goal and at that price could turn to be a good punt.

Houston covered above

VAN (W4 D1 L5) vs SKC

The Caps are becoming one of the most unpredictable teams in the league. They have allowed 16 goals so defence here is out of question. I still can’t see anyone for my team with so many other players around on a double.

SKS covered above

DAL(W5 D4 L0) vs SJ

Dallas is unbeaten in the last 10 games, the team is still without loss. Urruti with six goals and two assists could do well in this game. Acosta is doing well too.

San Jose covered above

NER (W3 D4 L4) vs CLB (W6 D1 L5)

The Revs are undefeated in the last nine home games. Nguyen can’t be ignored with his 5 goals and 4 assists. Cheap GK Cropper has three clean sheets and make points.

The Crew are serious contenders this year. They are good at home with at least two goals in the last six but have only two wins away. Meram with his last hatrick made it 7 goals in total and you can add 4 assists to that. Ola is not far behind with 6 goals and an assist.

MIN (W3 D2 L6) vs LA (W3 D2 L5)

Minnesota have a good record at home. Molino is highly recommended here with 5 goals and 3 assists. Despite the own goal, Ramirez is still desirable with 6 goals.

Galaxy got back on the winning track with three goals. Dos Santos scored his third goal and Alessandrini now has 6 goals including two braces. Expect few goals in here.

The teams in SEA vs RSL, PHI vs COLand OLC vs NYCFC have been already covered above.

DEADLINE: Wednesday 12th of May at 7:30 PM EDT- 00:30 AM GMT

Best of luck to all Managers in this crazy round

There was no fantasy football game I wasn't involved with . This time I am sticking with FPL with two teams plus My Rules. And of course my beloved MLS.

  1. Ivan great artical. This week will have alot of high scores. On another note it was amazing to see how well the newbies teams did this past GW, well done to all :tiphat:

  2. This week looks even tougher than FPL….with so many DGW players (with 70% of them will become SGW eventually), selection is an headache. :headscratch:

  3. Hi guys. My team (so far).

    Here’s hoping I can exceed the 110pts I got last week :D
