Fantasy MLS GW 12 Review and GW 13 Preview

One of the first really big double game week is over. Full of surprises with ups and downs. We witnessed 42 goals with 4 braces and a hatrick plus 6 clean sheets. As expected most of the managers did well over the 100 points mark.

Gameweek 12 Review

Philadelphia Union welcomed Houston Dynamo. The job was done early in the first half with goals from Picault and Ilsinho. The visitors remained winless on the road 2-0.

Chicago Fire comfortably won their home game against Colorado Rapids. Nikolic scored a brace and Accam had a goal in between 3-0. Sporting Kansas City didn’t give any chance to Seattle Sounders as Fernando got a hatrick within 23 minutes in the second half 3-0. After a long time Real Salt Lake won a game and surprisingly it was against NYCFC. The visitors had an early goal with Okoli but the host came back with goals from Rusnak and Maund 2-1.

San Jose Earthquakes shared a point each with Orlando city. The action came late in the second half with a goal from Rivas but three minutes later Wondolowski equalised for the home team and a point 1-1. New York Red Bulls held Toronto FC to a draw. BWP scored in the first half and Cheyrou equalised in the second. The visitors had a chance but Altidore missed a penalty 1-1. Home side, Montreal Impact demolished Portland Timbers. With a brace from Piatti and goals from Fisher and Oyongo the visitors only managed a goal by Valeri 4-1.

Chicago Fire had their second win in the round visiting D.C. United. They won by single goal from Accam 0-1.

Seattle Sounders won at home against Real Salt Lake with a goal by Shipp while Dempsey missed a penalty in the second half 1-0. Atlanta United won comfortably at home against Houston Dynamo with a hatrick from Almiron and a goal from Gressel 4-1.

Philadelphia Union also won their second game against Colorado Rapids. Calvert opened the scoring for the guests but the host came back with goals from Sapong and Medunjanin 2-1. Vancouver Whitecaps finished with a clean sheet against Sporting Kansas City. The goals came from Techera and Parker, Montero missed a penalty kick  2-0.

FC Dallas lost at home to San Jose Earthquakes. The only goal was scored by Hyka in the second half 0-1. Despite the early lead with Kamara, Columbus Crew lost to New England Revolution as Fagundez came back with a brace within ten minutes 2-1. Dos Santos gave the lead to LA Galaxy in the first half against Minnesota United. Ramirez equalised in the second but unfortunately he scored another one in his own net 1-2.

Orlando City hosted New York City FC and lost by three goals. Villa scored an early penalty and later Wallace doubled the score. The home team was awarded a penalty but was missed by Larin. In the later stage of the game Villa completed his brace 3-0.

Gameweek 13 Preview

It’s a calm after the storm. We are having a relatively normal round. This time one team will be on double and that is FC Dallas and one team on Bye which is Montreal Impact. The only pressure is that it all starts on Thursday.

CHI ( W 6 D 3 L 3 ) vs DAL ( W 5 D 4 L 1 )

The Fire is really doing well this season as predicted. The team seems to have an excellent performance at home allowing only three goals in the last six games and with five clean sheets. Nikolic with 10 goals and Accam with 6 goals and 4 assists can’t be ignored anymore. The defence needs to be considered as well.

Dallas continue to blow hot and cold. They have won only twice on the road and I can’t see them doing much against the well in form Fire. I am not tempted this week.

TOR ( W 7 D 5 L 1 ) vs CLB ( W 6 D 1 W 6 )

The six winning streak was cut short for Toronto but they are still unbeaten in the last seven games. They haven’t lost a game at home. Giovinco will be out for a while but Bradley and Altidore can be trusted at home.

The Crew is continuing with it’s ups and downs. This will be a big game with few goals expected and perhaps Ola and Meram can be fitted in the team. No defenders here.

SEA ( W 3 D 4 L 5 ) vs POR ( W 5 D 3 L 4 )

After 3 straight defeats the Sounders won for a second time in the last 8 games. Dempsey has been utterly inconsistent and Lodeiro has done nothing in the last 4.

The Timbers are winless in the last four games. They have only 2 wins in the last 23 away games. Valeri scored his first goal away from home. Adi has been quiet for a while. The last time they had a CS it was in round 2. Perhaps one last chance for Valeri

VAN ( W 5 D 1 L 5 ) vs D.C.U ( W 3 D 2 L 6 )

The caps have become very unpredictable. They do score now and again but you need a crystal ball to see who will get a goal next time. I am not taking a risk.

The Capital boys are absolutely lost this season. They played three times at home in a row and lost all of them. Only one win on the road. I will give it a miss.

NYRB ( W 5 D 2 L 6 ) vs NE ( W 4 D 4 L 4 )

The Bulls snapped the three games losing streak with a draw. They are a bit shaky on the road but perform well at home. Before the mini disaster they were unbeaten in five home games. BWP has been inconsistent but I can see him doing well in this one. Kljestan had his 40th assist and can’t be ignored.

New England has not lost in the last ten home games but appears to be a bit shaky on the road. It wont be an easy game but Nguyen can surprise at any time. Fagundez is doing well lately.

COL ( W 2 D 1 L 8 )vs SKC ( W 6 D 4 L 3 )

The Rapids have lost their last 6 away games scoring only two goals in them. They have only two home wins so far. The glamour of Badji and Gashi has disappeared.

Sporting has turned Children’s Mercy Park into a fortress conceding only twice in the last six games. Saying that on the road they are awful lost 21 of the last 23 games. Dom is injured and Benny is not the same. Somehow the defence brings good BPs.

MIN ( W 3 D 2 L 7 ) vs OLC ( W 6 D 2 L 4 )

The Loons have allowed 30 goals in their net so far. Nevertheless Ramirez with seven goals and Molino with 5 play a big role for the team.

The Lions were unbeaten in six home games up to last week. They have only one win on the road . Despite the own goal Larin should do well against the poor defence.

RSL ( W 3 D 2 L 8 ) vs PHI ( W 4 D 4 L 4 )

Real Salt lake have only won once in the last 6 games allowing 14 goals in them. The team has conceded 23 goals throughout the season, stay away from defence. No players for me.

Philly has been undefeated in the last 5 games with 4 clean sheets during that period. Sapong could be a bit inconsistent but I can see him doing well here. Medunjanin has 2 goals and 5 assists and keeps racking the bonus points.

SJ ( W 5 D 4 L 4 ) vs LA ( W 4 D 2 L 5 )

The Quakes have been on and off for a quite a while. Against what looks like to be very shaky LA this season, I can see Wondo and Godoy as popular picks.
Jungwirth with 2 goals and 2 assists plus 5 CS is a bonus points magnet.

The Galaxy are undefeated in the last four games. The team seems to be doing better away than at home. Dos Santos is back scoring with a goal in each of the last three games. Alessandrini with 6 goals and 5 assists remains a popular pick.

ATL ( W 4 D 3 L 4 ) vs NYCFC ( W 6 D 2 L 4 )

Atlanta is not doing that bad as a new franchise. They are winning and losing but keep on scoring. I know with his latest hattrick, Almiron will be well presented around the teams.

The Blues have lost only one game in the last five. After the first disappointing game of the round, Villa came back with a brace and now has 8 goals and 4 assists. I can see him scoring again here with the help from Harrison or Wallace.

DAL vs HOU ( W 6 D 1 L 5 )

Dallas covered above.

The Dynamos have lost their last 5 away games and failed to score in 3 of them. They have allowed at least 2 goals in them. In fact they don’t have a win on the road so far. That said Cubo is still producing, 9 goals to his name. Alex is still a popular mid.

        • @IvanTheTerrible The moment of truth! :doorpeek:

          Good luck everybody :)

I’ve stayed up this late, I may as well stay up and follow the game on the MLS site feed. Lucky it is bank holiday tomorrow, so no work!

        • @Chipster
The same here. I will try my best but I am not sure. Promised a friend of mine to help him moving house early in the morning. For now that is pending

        • @IvanTheTerrible I’ve put the time to good use and drafted my team for next week already:

          Bendik
          Callens / Spector / Jones
          Meram / Lodeiro / Nguyen / Harrison
          Villa / Larin / Torres
          (Cropper / Hansen / Wingert / Smith)

        • @Chipster
          Wow
Give me a break, not much time but lets wait till tomorrow afternoon.
You are on the right path anyway. We’ll experience some rotations and we know it but that’s the name of the game :D

I did for the USA team in post 50 but there will be many more going to there countries this week and still waiting for the full call up list.

  1. 62 pts in the end, including a measly 4pts in total for captain Urruti

It could have been worse. At least I beat the average score, won in my H2H match and went up to 3rd in that league, and managed not to finish bottom of the new ML where I was on Saturday.

Roll on the big DGW and a return to three-digit scores :D

  2. Hi all, I’m delighted I’m part of this,
I haven’t a clue about the MLS until I got disillusioned when the Premier League FF ended lol, meaning I’m missing something in the entertainment world of mine :yahoo:
So now guys, thanks to you, my fantasy football summer is alive
The “have no clue about the MLS” guy, but lately studied it a bit because of Fantasy MLS involvement” has selected Harrison as captain, an obvious choice ?
    Good luck all

  3. 62 points but i am still climbing.

Got to look at my team tomorrow for the big DGW. Normally have a good record of going crazy in the right DGWs.

Hope that continues and just maybe i will be one step closer.

Seems like history is repeating itself again, why do i always go on amazing run when i am chasing(after a bad starts).
