Fantasy MLS GW 6 Review and GW 7 Preview

It was an exciting weekend with 27 goals and some unpredicted scores. The most exciting was that our new MLS stars Secret Zorro and Midnightrunner did well again and remain in Top 10 of the Fantasy Football First League. Well done boys!

Gameweek 6 Review

In the opening game of the round LA Galaxy won against Montreal Impact. They looked the dominant side throughout the match. In the 15th minute the host opened the scoring with a goal from Alessandrini assisted by Boateng. The visitors played hopeless at all times. Their best chance was in the 42nd minute with Mancuso and Donadel received a questionable red card. The second was scored by Jones. Score:2-0.

New England Revolution welcomed Houston Dynamo at the Gillette Stadium. The first half went monotones with neither team had a shot on goal. Few minutes after the start of the second Kei Kamara scored the first goal. Agudelo produced the second one in the 72nd minute. Hardly any action from the visitors. Score:2-0.

Chicago Fire hosted Columbus Crew. Schweinsteiger couldn’t repeat the excellent debut but took a big part of helping the team. The only goal in the game came in the 22nd minute from Nikolics assisted by McCarthy. Score:1-0.

New York City was the dominant side when visited D.C. United but left with no points in the end. After goalless first half Sam opened the scoring in the 53rd minute. That was followed by another one in the 73rd minute from Acosta. David Villa scored the consolation goal six minutes before the end but it wasn’t enough for a win. Score:2-1.

Philadelphia Union once again failed to win, this time against Portland Timbers. They started well with the first goal from Marquez but after that they lost the plot. The guests regrouped and the goals followed from Nagbe, Miller and Adi. Score:1-3.

Toronto FC only managed a point at home when they met Atlanta United. Villalba scored in the 15th minute but Giovinco and Morrow netted two before half time. Two minutes after the start of the second half, Villalba came back to equalise. Score:2-2.

The CCL dream for FC Dallas is over but they put that behind and gave no chance to the new franchise Minnesota United. With goals in each of the two halves from Morales and Barrios earned the much needed three points. Score:2-0.

The new coach Mike Petke had a good start and with the a victory for Real Salt Lake at home against Vancouver Whitecaps. In a snowy cold evening in Utah, Real hammered the Caps with goals from Rusnak, Movsisyan and Mulholland. Score:3-0.

San Jose Earthquakes shared the points at home with Seattle Sounders. After hard trying from both teams almost in the entire game the action came in the closing stages when Lodeiro scored a beautiful goal in the 84 minute which was nullified by Wondolowski in the 90th. Score: 1-1.

Orlando City had many opportunities in the first half against New York Red Bulls. In the 21st minute Carrasco finally broke through and scored the only goal in the game. The visitors worked hard and Bradley had two great chances but no result. Score:1-0.

In the final match of the round we witnessed Sporting Kansas City smashing Colorado Rapids. Sinovic was quick to put the host on the board in the 6th minute. In the second half Fernando and Dwyer added two more goals. In the very last seconds of injury time the visitors were awarded a penalty which was executed by Doyle. Score:3-1.

Gameweek 7 Preview

After a normal week we have another one of this kind to follow. Enjoy while it lasts because soon we will be back on the double rollercoaster.

PHI ( W 0 D 2 L 3 ) vs NYCFC ( W 2 D 1 L 2 )

Philly is yet to win a game this year. This will be a second home game in row and one more to come before they go on the road where they are really bad, failed to win in 8 of the last 9 games. They share the bottom with MTL in the Eastern Conference.
My Opinion: You can try Sapong for this one but I am not tempted.

The Blues are another team which can’t get it right on the road. They have lost 6 of the last 7 away games. Are they going to manage here against the winless Union we don’t know. Patrick Vieira needs to do something with this squad.
My Opinion: Villa continues to score and it’s scary not to have him in your team. Morales, Wallace and Harrison are trying hard but only time will show.

VAN ( W 1 D 1 L 3 ) vs SEA ( W 1 D 3 L 1 )

The Canadians are struggling this season not that they were great in last one. They only have one win and failed to win 10 in the last 11 games. There is very shaky defence which doesn’t help Ousted who was once the best goalkeeper.
My Opinion: I can’t see anyone I like for my team just yet.

The Sounders are still blowing hot and cold. Last week was the eighth time not to win at San Jose. I don’t think the last year Champions have found their way this season.
My Opinion: Perhaps Lodeiro or Alonso if you have the cash to splash.

SJ ( W 2 D 1 L 2 ) vs DAL ( W 3 D 1 L 0 )

After a brilliant start of the season the Quakes lost two and drew at home to Seattle. Saying that they are unbeaten at home in the last 8 games. I doubt they will win in this one against one of the strongest defence in the league.
My Opinion: Reasonably priced Godoy and Lima are good punt to have.

After two home games the Texans are coming back on the road. They don’t have the burden of the CCL any longer so it’s time to concentrate on the league and do their best. They finished top in the overall ranking last year and it’s possible to do it again.
My Opinion: Urruti, Acosta and Harris. If you have the money Hedges or Zimmerman.

MTL ( W 0 D 3 L 2 ) vs ATL ( W 2 D 2 L 1 )

The Falcons kept the tradition with not a single goal against LA in their all time meeting. The last time they have won a game against a Western team was the opening one in the last season. This team have not won a game this season and its obvious they are missing injured Piatti.
My Opinion: No desire for any players until Ignacio returns and help the rest.

Apart from the first lost game the new Atlanta boys look resilient to many teams. It’s becoming hard to imagine that the team they are playing against will have a clean sheet. I expect a good fight against what is a extremely shabby Montreal.
My Opinion: That will be their third game away with one more to come. I can still trust Villalba and Almiron to do well. Sadly Asad will miss that one with the red card.

OLC ( W 3 D 0 L 1 ) vs LA ( W 2 D 0 L 3 )

The Lions had their third win for the season and sitting comfortably in second place with a point behind Columbus in the East. They look much improved team.
My Opinion: Larin has gone quiet at late but explode at any time.

After a horrible start with two home defeats the Galaxy starting to come to what they are supposed to be. The new lineup seems to be working. Zardes moved in front with GDS and Boateng took the place of the long term injured Lledget.
My Opinion: I will keep Alessandrini for now and see how will they do on the road. J. Jones is a good option as well but Boateng at that price looks really attractive. Diop with his price tag remains an attractive second goalkeeper for your team.

CHI( W 2 D 2 L 1 ) vs NE( W 2 D 1 L 2 )

Make a note. The Fire boys are unbeaten in 15 of the last 16 home games. I trust them to do same again against a team which is at the same level as them.
My Opinion: Bastian didn’t score but contributed a lot to the team. The players around him looked inspired. Nikolic for this game looks a must.

The Revs have won their last six home games but away they are not that good. They are sitting one place below their opponent and will be eager to correct that.
My Opinion: You can’t have a team without Nguyen, he brings points without scoring. If I was going to go for a striker I would pick Agudelo over Kamara.

NYRB ( W 2 D 1 L 3 ) vs DCU ( W 2 D 1 L 2 )

The Bulls just can’t get it right this season. They have only one win in five games. This is not the juggernaut we remember from last year. Jesse Marsch has to do some urgent work with this team before is too late. The lost of Dax McCarty is obvious.
My Opinion: After two games on road NY is back home. Maybe its time to give another chance to Bradley-Kljestan duo and see what happens.

After a very bad start of the season United started to find their feet on the ground. Let’s not forget that the last two games were at home. How will do in this one is an enigma. The Bulls are in almost the same situation.
My Opinion: I am still not ready for any of those players for the time being.

CLB ( W 3 D 1 L 2 ) vs TOR ( W 1 D 4 L 0 )

After three wins in a row the Crew went to lose in Chicago. Compare to the last season they are doing much better and holding to the top spot in East.
My Opinion: The team is strong at home and the winnings mentioned have at least two goals in them. It’s time for Ola and Meram to come back in this one.

The Reds have just one win out of the last five games. They became the masters of draws so far. We witnessed the first goal from Gio this year. But was it enough? OK, they are undefeated in the last 7 home games but what about on the road?
My Opinion: I am still not convinced that I need to spend all the cash on Gio. Altidore or Bradley for the more adventures managers.

HOU ( W 3 D 0 L 2 ) vs MIN ( W 1 D 1 L 4 )

The Dynamos finished last in the West last year but they look like determined not to happen again. Three wins and two losses are good for their standard. They are good at home and this game against the newbies looks promising for points.
My Opinion: Torres and Alex would be in many teams for this game.
Well, the Loons surprised us all with the win over RSL but they are back to earth again. As expected it will take a miracle to find a place in the playoffs.
My Opinion: Not me but if you are brave enough Ramirez and Molino could be a bet.

COL ( W 1 D 1 L 2 ) vs RSL ( W 1 D 2 L 3 )

The Rapids are in a shocking state at the moment. They finished second overall last year and now are sharing the bottom three in the West. It looks like the once magic defence doesn’t exist. They need a speedy recovery from this situation.
My Opinion: Playing at home against a rather shaky RSL could be a time to trust once again Badji and maybe Watts or Miller.

Hurray, RSL finally won a game! Will that happen again against COL defence? No.
My Opinion: I have said it before. If you are gambler, Rusnak and Yura are your men.

POR ( W 4 D 1 L 1 ) vs SKC ( W 2 D 3 L 0 )

The Timbers are showing signs of a new team all together. Previously they have lost 8 in the last 9 away games but last week they did it in style. There is a good chance they might do it again….
My Opinion: Valeri got away with just an assist but he is still a powerhouse. Adi has been tremendous so far and I expect at least a goal or two here.

The Kansas men have not lost a game yet. They are well in contention to remain in the playoffs position. Two wins and three draws is a respectable result so far.
My Opinion: Medranda, Sinovic, Besler and Opara for consideration.

Deadline: 14.04.17 at 7 PM EDT- 00.00 AM GMT

Good luck to all Fantasy Football First managers
