My team was nominated as the official Fantasy Football First team. My job is to tell you how and why I have picked certain players and formations for the Fantasy Premier League, and explain my reasoning behind any changes along the way. This article explains the changes I have made to my team and why.
Game week 36
As planned, I am on my wild card. This is my team:
My team has been selected mostly with game week 37 in mind, in particular to take advantage of the Bench Boost chip. Also, I have mostly selected players with something to play for, be it to win the league, win a Champions League position or to avoid relegation. The main exception is Pickford. He has been included because teams at the bottom of the league tend to relax and play well once relegation is confirmed, and therefore I am expected an upturn in Sunderland’s results.
I have Jesus, Rashford and Kane in attack. All of these have something to play for, while Jesus and Rashford are included because of the injures to Aguero and Zlatan. With both of these players there is a risk of rotation, for example, Rooney playing ahead of Rashford. Therefore, if I have a change of heart on the selection of either of these players I will announce it in the comments below.
In midfield the biggest question to answer is “no Sanchez”. I have left Alexis out for two reasons; because Arsenal have not been playing that great recently and because I consider his absence from my team to be a differential.
In defence I have sold Walker because of the transfer rumours and brought in Davies to maintain Spurs cover. I have also brought Kompany in because City are so much better with him in the team.
At the back I have kept it cheap so that I have cash in the bank for next week.
So that’s my team. Please do ask questions and I’ll try to answer them when I am on-site later tonight and early tomorrow morning.
Lastly, thank you to everyone who has donated to the site these last few weeks. It all helps to keep the lights on. The recent site issues were caused by errors in our load-balancing servers. The issues have been fixed for now, but there is work to do in the off-season to ensure we don’t get the same issues next season. If anyone on site has experience of node.js please volunteer to help.
Best of luck for game week 36.
