Rate My Fantasy Football Team Machine

Rate my Fantasy Premier League team for game week 8

Here to help. Post your team and get good constructive feedback on your selections. We will share our thoughts and concerns to help each other build better teams and hopefully win our respective mini-leagues.

How does it work?

Tell us your first 11, bench, cash in the bank and captain as we’ll take a look. We might tell you there is too much money sitting in the bank. We might question if you have the right striker or goalkeeper. We will point out obvious errors like it is rarely a good idea to have a defender as captain. For sure you will be told about the absence of a ‘star’ player and the captain de-jour.

Option 1: Post your team using the Rate My Team Adviser’s algorithm

Based on published research, and capable of machine learning, our powerful Automated Adviser is a proven FPL analytics tool. Our Points Prediction engine takes into account new signings, formation changes, manager changes, and many other factors.

Option 2: Write your team in a comment

Post the players you select in the formation you want to play them, and separately list your subs., transfers and remaining cash in the bank. For example:

Please rate my team:

Forster
Stones, Bailly, Mee
Alli, Willian, David Silva, Carroll
Lukaku, Benteke, Jesus
Defoe, Lukaku, Kane
Subs: Elliot, Evans, Stephens and Iwobi.

Captain: Lukaku and Vice is Jesus.
Money in the bank: £0.2m
Planned transfers: Willian -> Phillips so I have cash to upgrade Jesus to Kane next week

Link your team

Linking your team means anyone can click on your profile image and see your team. This helps because the reviewer can see your transfer history and get a sense of your overall strategy. After all, we don’t want to suggest a player you have just sold.

To link your team

  1. please help my team

    This MW WC Team

    Fabianski/Eliot

    Stones/Davies/Ward/Macquire/Azpi

    Sterling/Pedro/Grob/Carrol/Felaini

    Vardy/Kane/Jesus

    1,9 M ITB

i plan to bring morata+aguero after both fit

    Thanks

      • @RT08 I did some research today and thats not how it works. The transfer reverses the next week. In fact, it gets worse. For example

        1) If I transfer out lets say Lukaku to Jesus and then play the FH, Lukaku comes back into my team next week.
        2) If I transfer out Lukaku and Mkhi to Jesus and Sterling and then play FH, I get a -4 AND Lukaku and Mkhi return to the team next week
        3) If I make no transfer and play FH, it does NOT carry over and you just lose your FT.

        • @masterdeds Cheers! So scenario 2 is invalid, although I read about a player that experienced it… maybe they changed things for him and then changed the system altogether?

You still lose your FT right? just like with a WC?

        • @A J
There is no point wasting your free hit for one or two players. The FH will be most useful later in the season when we get the BGW and half of your team will be missing. You can bring every player who will be in for that week and then have your original team back in the following.

        • @IvanTheTerrible I understand Ivan – however my concern wasnt taking a FH for a small number of players – its more about what happens to your FT?

Basically you lose it – and despite what Fantasy Support has said in the image posted above, a player who took -4 before playing his FH chip, lost the points and the transfers..

        • @A J
That’s it. Definitely not good for just a couple of players. Some people planning to keep it for DGW but I don’t see the benefit as then we get most of the rotations.

        • @SecretZorro yes but it doesn’t exactly do that. It returns to the team from your previous gameweek, not the team you had before activating the chip – the transfers get reversed but the point penalties apply – either the xfers should remain along with the hit costs, or neither should apply

        • @SecretZorro But then again “Free Hit Make unlimited free transfers for a single Gameweek. At the next deadline your squad is returned to how it was at the start of the Gameweek. “.

        • @SecretZorro haha yeah I guess..

Man 2 weeks without football and spending one of them ill at home really messes with the mind ..

I don’t think I’m doing anything drastic to my team. Just gonna go with a single transfer or maybe a hit if I’m confident that I’ll recover the points..

        • @A J @RT08 @IvanTheTerrible @SecretZorro yes. We loss our FT just like WC. N not to gain or price benefit. So in my opinion it used in bgw or in condition many our player is doubt or injured this gw but could back for next gw with good fixture.
N agree with ivan.not good for just a couple player.

        • @masterdeds example in my team. I have ddg+jones. Plus doubt kola.plus hanley. Rlc.firmino.
So if i use free hit n play 523. It could be work.

  3. Hi guys,

This is currently my team, I held off on playing the WC. I have 0.5ITB and 0FT. I am thinking of taking a -4 hit for Fab->Pope or Mason -> Mee/Lowton. Do you think the hit would be worth it? Thanks in advance!

    • @shirr no, -4 for a defensive change isn’t worth it. your team is good but cork in 11 isn’t good and 2 subs are deadwood.

      # go with this team. all the best

      • @RT08 I know I’m not happy with just Carroll as cover, was thinking of Mason to Mee/Lowten and playing 5 at the back with Cork on the bench. But not worth the hit, I’ll find cover for my bench over the next few weeks. Thanks for the help

  4. Hi mates, got 2 FT & 0 itb, please RMT.. :D

Really want to get Hazard and get rid of Firmino, what do you think is better option:
    a) Eriksen & Firmino > Hazard & $7.6 or below fwd (suggestion please)
    b) Eriksen, Firmino & Lukaku > Hazard, Jesus/Laca & Vardy (-4 hit)

    Thank you guys!

      • @SecretZorro thx zoro, if i choose pope,is ok dobeling with ward ??

I am concern about stones game time after kompany is back..

I know i push the button to early

I can downgrade hazard to pedro/fabregas, and than i can upgrade luiz+stones+sterling to azpi+otamendi+silva ,is a good idea ? Or keep the current team ?

  5. What are the arguments for and against whom to drop out of a power three of Lukaku, Kane and Jesus? (Especially if I’ve had Lukaku early doors and may struggle to rebuy!)

    • @lemmiwinkz2
      1) Kane is a crazy striker who can create for himself and on his day can score against best defence. ( Season long striker )
      2) Lukaku is a gradual striker who will thrive being the only focal point of utd’s creativity , will score almost every GW but isn’t goint to score crazily in 1 GW ( Season long striker )
      3) Jesus is still not proven but right now fixtures and game-time is with him. ( Form-Fixture Striker)
      4) Morata – ( Season long striker for me )

  6. RIght guys this is my like millionth tweak. Feels a bit bottom heavy. Any suggestions? My concern is that I had Richarlison but his fixtures are hard over the next few weeks.

  7. Going a bit mad working through the options. Need a fresh pair of eyes to offer up any opinions.

    Foster/ Elliot
    Monreal/ Bavies/ Jones/ Ward/ Simpson
    Mkhi/ Eriksen/ Doucoure/ T.Carrol/ D.Silva
    Vardy/ Kane/ Firm

    0.6m in the bank and 2FTs to play with. Firm>Jesus & Mkhi>Fabregas? Firm>Bats & Foster>Courtois? Firm>Rashford & Monreal>Azpi?

Open to any other suggestions too. Cheers in advance for any help that can be offered.

      • @Kralin Do I deduce from your advice that Abraham has won that tricky third forward spot in your wc team…?

        • @Kumast you know my feelings about midfielders masquerading as defenders, what do you think of:

          Luiz/Ota/Davies/van Dijk/Monreal
          Sterling/Hazard 3x usual 4.5 suspects
          The three forwards just mentioned

No surprises with the goalies (probably Pope).

I’m torn between this or ignoring Hazard, playing both Azpi and Alonso instead (thereby adding two Chelsea midfielders).

With the exception of Richarlison I can’t get excited about any cheapish midfielders, hence the 5-2-3.

        • @Kralin I largely like it, but I prefer Azpi and Kola over luis and monreal (im sure you feel the same but need the extra cash luis and monreal give you?). And i’m not sure about van dijks gametme but i may be out of the loop on that one.

          I am currently aiming for:
          Elliot, pope
          Davies, Azpi, Kola, Ota, Mbemba
          Haz, silva, choupo, doucoure, carroll
          Jesus, kane, wood

So its a 4-3-3 that can be a 4-4-2 for selected gameweeks. I’m reasonably comfortable with the two cheapish mids who can be rotated with eachother in a 4-3-3, and also with wood in a 4-4-2. However all the ongoing uncertainty over monreal/jesus/aguero etc has me a bit stuck and so i havent pressed the button on selling lukaku yet. And the team above depends absolutely on the cash from a lukaku sale.

        • @IvanTheTerrible One of the advantages of Pope is that if you pick a certain Bournemouth defender you can, when RMT say:

          Elliot / Pope
          Francis

I’ve never known so much biblical temptation around fantasy football. The temptation to play Abraham/Kane/Jesus is huge.

        • @Kumast yes, it’s Hazard who messes things up a bit for me money-wise. I was thinking about Walker as well. I’m not 100% there yet and may stick with a Sterling/Salah mid.

I was scanning your team, nodding my head until I got to Wood, which stopped the nods into a gasp of disbelief. But I think I know where you’re coming from with him and suspect Abraham is running him a close second?

I’m torn between Silva and Sterling as well. Head says Silva but Sterling can cause a lot of mischief. Playin time doesn’t seem an issue.

        • @Kralin
          5-2-3 :headscratch:
If that is not a typo, it is definitely a brave strategy. How long do you think this new trend will last for? We are getting into that phase of the season when cleen sheets will not be that popular weekly events as up to now??

        • @IvanTheTerrible it’s an ultra risky strategy and a bit of fun, to be frank. Basically I’ve decided to take the formation less travelled by

The attraction of so many attacking defenders this season, plus the paucity of sub 7m midfielders, has led me to this.

I suspect however that its rigidity of form may be its undoing.

Don’t try this at home, kids.

        • @Kralin
I admire your decision and agree that we have a massive shortage of outstanding midfielders this season, in contrast of the last one, as long we get proper front three. Sincerely wish you best of luck with that

        • @Kralin a good team will keep 15 clean sheets. So 3 defenders from good teams could be 15×4 + 38×2 = 136 points. Lets say an extra 40 bonus points or goal/assist points, then 176 points per defender. That is almost 528 points for 3 good defenders at £18m, or 880 points for an outlay of £30m.

Thats 36% of the points needed to be top 0.5% for only 30% of the budget.

          Method in the madness.

Just find me 5 trustworthy defenders who scored 170+

        • @ChorleyRocks thanks for that. With a bit of luck it may work out. My feeling was wing-backs only but I can’t ignore the players Berbacat referred to as ‘bonus point whores’, and sometimes centre backs fit the bill nicely there.

        • @ChorleyRocks yes, Valencia and Walker aren’t far from my thoughts. Valencia maybe from the Newcastle fixture and Walker could be as soon as now if I change the Hazard transfer.

        • @ChorleyRocks Thanks for this analysis which is very useful. What’s your feeling about my proposed wc team above containing 4 premium defenders please?

        • @ChorleyRocks Been much too busy, so that is unresolved i’m afraid. Jesus to morata next week, but more news on moata mght mean i get him in now.

        • @ChorleyRocks Yes very sound thinking. With all the uncertainty over injuries and returning players, plus fact i’ve been busy, mean i’ve been regretting slightly playing the wc now. But too late now of course, eg: tempted to keep lukaku for now, but that would throw a big spanner in the proposed wc team. Would mean a wc team that is more tinkering than radical restructuring. What are your thoughts on hazard, and abraham or wood?

        • @ChorleyRocks Thanks. In a 4-3-3 i’d play wood most weeks and rotate the two 5m mids. Your choice for third forward? Go cheaper, upgrade one 5m mid and play 4-4-2? Not really interested in 6m mids with exception of richarlison though.

        • @ChorleyRocks If i go with haz and that back line of azpi, ota, davies and kola (mbemba) than im left with 7m. Just seen that kola is flagged so if he is swapped to monreal then that gives me 7.6m.

        • @ChorleyRocks Yes interesting. Earlier in my wc i considered the idea of squeezing him in. A little bit punty with gametime but I presume as a utd fan you must be confident on that score? Thanks for the help.

        • @Kumast I think your team is sound. The conferences today are of great interest though. If Morata is fit then that will cause a rethink for me and possibly a Sterling Silva midfield, with Morata for Jesus and almost certainly Azp in defence.

        • @ChorleyRocks I’ve been pondering the fixtures but decided, with Spurs, that the Liverpool and Arsenal games looming will suit the likes of Davies. May not be a clean sheet but other goodies may come. In addition, Spurs also play poor old Palace and of course Bournemouth inbetween the tough stuff.

        • @ChorleyRocks the elephant in the room will be rest from the CL games, with the Palace match a possible example.

But overthinking on that, plus long-haul flights after internationals, is never that helpful and solves little. I find, anyway.

    • @PickleRick I’d check those two 4m defenders have any chance of playing – a wildcard is a good time to correct non-players, not add to them.

I think you’ve managed the balance pretty well, considering you have three strong forwards. I would think about downgrading one of your mids so you can get a defender like Cedric in (though Southampton’s good fixtures don’t last for ever).

You’ve got good Man City coverage but Chelsea have got very nice fixtures; maybe you’re planning to move Jesus on for Morata in time?

      • @Kralin Thanks for the tip, I’ll upgrade one of my 4m defenders or I could bring in Forster to get Southampton coverage at the back and hope one of my cheap defenders play.

Yeah, I’m trying to figure out a way to bring in Hazard or Morata in the coming weeks after I sell Jesus.
