Rate My Fantasy Football Team Machine

Rate my Fantasy Premier League team for game week 8

Here to help. Post your team and get good constructive feedback on your selections. We will share our thoughts and concerns to help each other build better teams and hopefully win our respective mini-leagues.

How does it work?

Tell us your first 11, bench, cash in the bank and captain as we’ll take a look. We might tell you there is too much money sitting in the bank. We might question if you have the right striker or goalkeeper. We will point out obvious errors like it is rarely a good idea to have a defender as captain. For sure you will be told about the absence of a ‘star’ player and the captain de-jour.

Option 1: Post your team using the Rate My Team Adviser’s algorithm

Based on published research, and capable of machine learning, our powerful Automated Adviser is a proven FPL analytics tool. Our Points Prediction engine takes into account new signings, formation changes, manager changes, and many other factors.

However, Fantasy Football First’s uniqueness is that as well as the excellent analytics engine, we have experienced FPL managers who’s opinion you can canvas. Option 2: Write your team in a comment

Post the players you select in the formation you want to play them, and separately list your subs., transfers and remaining cash in the bank. For example:

Please rate my team:

Stones, Bailly, Mee
Alli, Willian, David Silva, Carroll
Lukaku, Benteke, Jesus
Defoe, Lukaku, Kane
Subs: Elliot, Evans, Stephens and Iwobi.

Captain: Lukaku and Vice is Jesus.
Money in the bank: £0.2m
Planned transfers: Willian -> Phillips so I have cash to upgrade Jesus to Kane next week

Link your team

  1. Please rate my team and suggest:
    Ward, Otamendi, Naughton, Cédric
    Alli, De Bruyne, Fàbregas
    Calvert-Lewin, Lukaku, Kane

Subs: Elliot, Mbemba, Kouyaté and Ritchie .
Captain: Kane and Vice is De Bruyne.
    Money in the bank: £0.2m
    Planned transfers: Have no idea…!!

    • @anandomostofa Nice to see KdB in a side. I think I’d quietly move Ritchie on for a 4.5 mid and use the money to upgrade your defence.

Also I think I’d rather have Man City attacking players than defenders, however the two you’ve chosen are probably guaranteed starters. So again a quiet Ederson – 4.5 goalie (Fab/Pope) may free up money for you.

      • @Kralin In that case,
        Ederson out— Fab/Pope in
        Fabregas out— Ritchie in
        Are that all right??
Who would be my defence pick??

        • @anandomostofa I would play Fabregas this weekend.

Ritchie is ok but may be rendered less useful, fantasy wise, by Shelvey’s return. I had him in my pre-wc side but moved him out fairly quickly.

My reasoning with Ederson is because as effective the Man City defence has been, you may get more points for their attacking players. Rotating cheap goalies may get you a similar number of points and save some money. I have got Otamendi and intend to keep.

I think you’ve got a good enough team for this weekend, just that you need to make a couple of structural adjustments.

  2. Hi guys, been working like a madman and tmrw flying ALL THROUGHOUT the games :headbang: so unfortunately no time for the usual research, advice or banter  Quick tips for my team greatly appreciated, 0FT left (did Morata to Jesus what feels like 2 years ago) and 2.4 ITB. May not be able to thank you until tmrw so please don’t think I’m an ungreatful git :lolflag:

    • @VanDan

I think the Huddersfield bubble has burst – they have scored just 1 goal in the past 5 games + their fixtures curdle after this GW.
So depending on how jet-lagged you are, you could either do –

      1. Mooy to Sterling
      2. Mooy to Pedro (his game time does concern me though)
      3. Stick with your current team to avoid a 4pt hit, but look to swap him out next week
      4. Dawson looks like dropping in price, but you will probably be several thousand feet in the air and unable to take any action until it is too late

    • @VanDan gtg for the week, but that midfield needs some work in the coming weeks!

Happy flying. May your stopovers be filled with goal updates and fpl point notifications.

  3. Hi, would appreciate some feedback on my team. I’ve wildcarded, have 0.9 in the bank.
I originally had gone for Lazacette and Vardy, but switched back to Lukaku and Wood as Lukaku has such high ownership.
I am also questioning my sudden liking for 5-2-3! I wish I hadn;t wildcarded now – too many decisions to make…

    • @bobbyd Can you afford Walker instead of Stones? Mop Head is not game time assured, so I would swap him out while you are on your WC.

An interesting team with loads of potential. Best of luck, but I think you won’t need it

      • @ChorleyRocks and @SecretZorro
Thanks for those ideas! I can afford the switch if I do Fellaini to Carroll. But if I do that, then I could afford Valencia instead of Walker. Any thoughts on that?

        • @bobbyd United have tough fixtures coming, but then so do Spurs and you have Davis.

I prefer to find budget players who I can leave in for at least 10 weeks and not worry about them – this is why I am keen on finding rotating options.

This means that each week I can focus on swapping premium players to take advantage of fixtures.

So given this, perhaps avoid Davis and Valencia and choose two other premium players, and bring Davis in for GW13 and Valencia in for GW12

  4. What sub should I make? Or go for double transfer with a 4 point hit?

P.s if you click on the picture you’ll get a better quality

  5. I have a Dilemma. I have already made my transfers. Here is My Team
    Lascelles Bailly Davis
    Couthino David-Silva Hazard Mkitharyan Gros
    Jesus Vardy

    Subs: Elliott Lowe Abraham Mbemba
Should I keep 2 in front or take Gros out of midfield and have Abraham in a 3 men attack? Who will have more chance of scoring more points in GW8? Gros or Abraham?

    • @FrenchyGunner

      Difficult to know.
Swansea could sneak a 1-0 win, and if Abraham scores, then you guess correctly.
Brighton v Everton could end up goalless, which means 3 points for Groß.

Abraham has had 10 shots, 2 goals and 0 assists.
Groß has had 5 shots, 2 goals and 2 assists.

Stats say Groß. My gut feeling says Abraham. Maybe flip a coin

  6. Please RMT, I had the wildcard activated. i know it looks kinda weird but your feedback would be very much appreciated. 1M itb.

    some thoughts:

    – salah or hazard? or anyone else? im not sure about that
    – richarlison and choupo moting as rotation
    – i think i wanna stick with kane/lukaku at the front. i was considering Jesus also but you can never know and Aguero is back – a bit early?!

    • @anastasia

I really like this team
Is that 1.0M or 0.1M in the bank?
Some people may suggest that you get Chelsea cover, but I think the absence of Kante and Morata alters the dynamics of the team.

        • @OldGoat not a typo, it’s 1m itb, thank god for me :P

yes i was actually considering chelsea forward but there is no viable option so i just dropped it.

        • @anastasia

Ha, I have finally found a weak spot!
Your defence doesn’t rotate for GW11

Sorry, I am not trying to be nasty, I think that is one of the best teams I have come across.

Have a little play with the team, and see if there is ANY way that you could upgrade Joselu to Welbeck when Danny is up to speed.

        • @OldGoat Thanks! Yeah you’re right, my team is a bit screwed on GW11 however not necessarily. I can change from the current 5-2-3 to 3-4-3 or I can simply transfer in a Spurs defender by then, or not. I think there’s a couple of solutions to that.

          Danny Welbeck? No. :p

        • @Kumast looks fine to me, just a move from Pope I think and Wood from last night.

You are a bit dependent on slightly risky players – your Joselus, C-Ms and Richarlisons (though I really like the latter), but the excellent defence and Kane(c) should hopefully offset any wobbles there.

Salah can always come back if Hazard bombs.

        • @Kralin Still may go back to Pope. 0.1 short of Ward in place of Mbemba which is a shame because that would allow me to play 5-3-2 or 5-2-3 when necessary. Could swap Kola to Monreal which would allow Mbemba to Ward (or Cedric).

        • @Kralin Yes, slightly disappointing because as you said monreal doesnt do what kola does, & monreal does feel like a bit of a compromise of ‘the plan’. Still, one cannot ignore his bps potential and good price.
How is your final selection looking?

        • @Kumast as last night, no changes at all in fact. Will do the moves in the morning as I have a vague hope Romeu may drop in price tonight.

Alas we have to be flexible with our plans, Kola can always come back.

        • @Kralin It surely will. Im hesitating between pope and fabianski. As i’m looking like getting ward then i might stick with fabianski to avoid double burnley defence, but who knows, that combo might be this seasons double stoke!

        • @Kumast yes, sad to see Grant fade from the picture as if he never existed.

When it comes down to it, if captain Kane does the job it’ll be a good weekend, fantasy-wise anyway.

Cheers and best of luck for this weekend.

        • @Kumast I think Kolasinac is a tad too expensive with the options that are available at the moment. I prefer to downgrade him and upgrade Mbemba. Martina maybe?

          Other than that, wonderful team.

        • @Kumast I’m probably going to go for Hazard but wouldn’t be if Morata was fit. So not having him – other than missing the Palace game – doesn’t seem that much of a blunder to me. Eg this time next week we’re going to be asking, is Morata and Hazard overkill (probably not, thinking about it). Then various scratching of heads.

Salah will get a few chances.

    • @anastasia Beautiful team. However, I would prefer to upgrade Salah to Hazard and downgrade Monreal to a 5m (Maguire/Everton defender) or Joselu to Ayew.

In 2 weeks you can reassess with the idea of Lukaku to Morata and Hazard to Salah.

      • @Zwischenzug I’m not feeling comfortable with getting Hazard over Salah, he hasn’t really proven that he’s worthy of his value yet (so expensive!) and we’re not sure if he’s playing full time. So that’s a no from me, although a viable swap would be Salah to Alli and I kinda like the idea actually. Thanks a lot! :) x

    • @anastasia
Hazard for me.. Has been excellent in both UCL and international break, plus he’s facing the leaky Crystal Palace this GW while Salah is facing United which is very likely to park the bus against big team

    • @anastasia I would also go for Hazard over Salah. I think he will be explosive without Morata and given his UCL and International performance.

      • @Kralin Thanks! I did swap Salah for Alli to be honest. I didn’t take the Hazard risk but im looking to bring Salah back in two weeks. Defence is on fire this season, so far. Can’t say the same for the midfield – always looking for worthy players…

  7. Hi esteemed FPL lords.
After debating whether to hold onto it longer I’ve WC’d. Here are the results.
Batshu of course a short term gamble. Long plan is to get Morata or Aguero back in. 0.7 ITB currently.
    Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

    • @nickpread I’ve got a similar team except I can’t get rid of the feeling that Jones/Man Utd might let in a few with the fixtures they’ve got, so for now, I’ve gone with Yoshida instead of Jones and Atsu instead of Davis, but I’ve held the extra .2 IDB in case I change my mind :)

  8. Hi guys,
Used my WC and would appreciate any input.
Want Chelsea and City cover due to good fixtures.

    Courtois – Elliot
    Otamendi – Lascelles – Ward – Löwe – Hünemeier
    Hazard – Couthino – Sterling – Carroll – Gross
    Lukaku – Kane – Abraham

    0,2 ITB.

    • @tborven Really insisting on Courtois? If you rotate well and scoring continues as it has, with a budget 4.5 (pope for example) you could well make (if not better) what he has so far but with 1.0m in the bank, if you’re backing Chelsea defence, maybe look at what the extra 1.2m could buy you? Azpi for example?

      • @lemmiwinkz2 can’t afford azpi or any other chelsea defender without doing some other moves as well (unless I drop Otamendi).

        • @tborven I think the team is pretty well balanced overall and a little bit ‘tit for tat’ if you like.

Short term, Courtois probably will get you points as the Chelski fixtures look good and make up for your Chelsea defenders, but you also have to think longer term, will you miss that extra 1.0m and have to use a FT one week or take a -4 hit on Courtois to afford a player further up the pitch? It becomes a little bit mystic meg :)

        • @tborven It’s the balance between a solid keeper vs a player who can score you brilliantly one week. Never an easy choice, but if you can rotate you can mitigate risk

  9. Any thoughts on my team. Got 1FT and £0.9m in the bank. Defence feels weak and am lacking Man City players.

    • @chriskidd agree with your thoughts. Could downgrade Vardy and one GK and then upgrade Kante and a defender. Look at Chelsea/city cover in the back.

        • @chriskidd Pascal gross could be an option. Good fixtures.
Don’t see many good forward options around 7 so went Abraham myself. Miki got some tough fixtures coming up so i let him go and added Haz.

        • @chriskidd If defence is where you want to start and between Man City vs Chelsea, Man City seems to have cheaper scorers, your options are Danilo (shakey game time) or Stones (more expensive), if you’re to afford Stones currently you would have to lose Hegazi, however, on that balance I think it would be worth it as West Broms fixtures are pretty bad and Hegazi is dropping in price/time anyway.

So in short, if defence is your focus and Man City a target, I’d go Hegazi to Stones

  10. Tinkering about, considering this as my WC team… Potentially with the planning of switching Lukaku & Silva -> Aguero & Coutinho (or downgrade Hazard and take out Vardy).
    RMT? Any tips/thoughts?
